The release of Apple's Mac OS X 10.6, Snow Leopard, operating system is imminent and ZDnet.com has an informative article on why you may want to upgrade some of which I list below..

  1. If upgrading from Leopard, it's only $29 for a single licence
  2. Booting-up time and shut-down are faster as well as connecting to wireless networks
  3. It's lighter - a whopping 6GB of memory is freed-up on upgrading

Let's face it: your computer begins to run out of steam almost as soon as you buy it. It starts to slow down, all of a sudden the 160GB hard drive isn't enough, you want to replace that DVD drive with a Blu-Ray drive etc. What are the options? Buy a new PC/Mac or upgrade the hardware you already have? Upgrading hardware can seem daunting but it really isn't especially when you have some good tutorials to light the way.

I've been a fan of the shoot 'em up rpg Quake since the first game was released back in 1996 - I played a first-level-only demo that shipped with a computer mag and just had to get the full game. (Quake One still has a strong following here...)

Now id software, the developers of Quake, have released a free-to-play online version called Quake Live and it's awesome!  Check out the unofficial trailer below and then go register at www.quakelive.com
