If you've ever had anything to do with web design or web development you'll probably have had to re-code a lot of your site to work well in Internet Explorer 6. IE6 is largely a piece of c*$p (hey, ask any web designer) but Microsoft has made some progress with IE7.

Google Labs has created a javascript script(!) to force IE6 to behave like IE7 so you don't need to work too hard to have your site look decent in that awful browser.

Newcomers to Joomla often find it difficult to get to grips with the way the CMS organises data and content, even though once you figure it out it's as easy as pie.

It doesn't hurt, however, to have some good guidance like a quick start guide to get started on the right track.

Amy Stephen, who I believe is a member of the Joomla core team, has put a slideshow of the quickstart guide up for Joomla users.

For the past year or so I've been working almost exclusively on Joomla sites. My other open source CMS favourite is WordPress but I have to admit Joomla does a whole lot more than WordPress at the moment.

Joomla is a brilliant Content Management System (CMS) easy enough for anyone to use and it's been picking up top awards for a number of years.

Dionne Hinchcliffe, over at ZDNet, has compiled a list of top platforms for creating online communities, something hobbyists and businesses alike are now trying to do in earnest. Not all that surprisingly Joomla tops the list.
