Windows Vista really didn't stand a chance, did it? Sporting a completely different user interface and drawing far more resource than Windows XP made Vista a non-starter.
Even though new PCs were being shipped with this new, shiny OS, many buyers opted to replace it with XP, often at extra cost. The corporate world didn't take Vista up at all; the cost of re-training staff to use the new OS just wasn't worth it. Microsoft eventually had to extend support for XP once they realised Vista had been shunned by the market. Will Windows 7 fare better?
